Was lucky enough to attend the Thao with the Get Down Stay Down show at the Bowery Ballroom last night. While I like Thao’s recorded output well enough, it doesn’t come close to capturing the sheer joy of their live show. I will never miss a Thao show from this point on, thats for sure. Thank you to Alicia, who is lending her abilities as sound woman for their tour, for getting me into the show. Always such a pleasure seeing her.
Taking my first trip to Carnegie Hall tonight. My friend got me a free ticket to see the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra perform. No idea what I’m in for, but apparently they will be handing out “complimentary hand drums.” Good times? We shall see. At the very least it is quite a departure from Surfer Blood and the Replacements, who I have been listening to exclusively for four days straight. My brain probably needs a break from that junk anyways.
